Miners Pasty Kitchen Information

When you walk into Miners Pasty Kitchen in Munising, MI, you can almost immediately feel the charm of this cozy, no-frills spot. Located at 215 W Munising Ave, the restaurant offers a truly unique taste of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, with a menu that highlights the area’s history and its hearty, rustic flavors.

The main star of the show at Miners Pasty Kitchen is, of course, their pasties. If you’re unfamiliar with these savory hand pies, they’re a local staple, originating from the Cornish miners who worked in the region’s copper and iron mines. The pasty is a perfect meal in one, filled with a mix of meat, potatoes, and vegetables all wrapped in a golden, flaky crust. At Miners, they’ve taken this traditional dish and made it their own, offering a variety of fillings that cater to all tastes. Whether you’re in the mood for the classic beef and potato pasty or want to try something a bit different like the vegetarian option, there’s something for everyone.

The restaurant is laid-back, with an inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you can sit down, relax, and enjoy a meal at your own pace. The staff is friendly and eager to make sure your dining experience is a great one. Even though the space isn’t huge, it’s warm and welcoming, with the kind of local charm that makes small-town dining so special. The simple yet comfortable setting is perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely meal with friends and family.

The menu doesn’t stop at pasties, though. For those looking for variety, there are a handful of other delicious items to choose from, like soups, sandwiches, and sides that complement the pasties perfectly. The homemade soups are a favorite, with the rich, flavorful broths adding a great option for those chilly UP days. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the pasty sampler-it's a great way to taste a bit of everything.

What really sets Miners Pasty Kitchen apart, however, is how much it embraces the local culture and heritage of Munising. The restaurant feels like a love letter to the Upper Peninsula, with its menu reflecting the flavors and traditions that define the area. It’s not just about the food; it’s about the experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, dining here gives you a little taste of what makes this part of Michigan so special.

As you dig into your pasty, you might notice that everything about this place feels grounded in community. What People's Say About Place

First time trying pasties, my friend had the chicken pastie and I had the vegan one. They were very flavorful, and simply delicious. The lady that served us took her time to tell us about the area and what to see there. Overall, the service and the food were excellent.

What a gem!! We have gluten and dairy free folks in our group and we were still all able to eat a pasty and an icecream! Prices are good and flavor of everything is phenomenal! Highly recommend.

Cute walk-in shop that lets the food speak for itself. Best beef pasty we've ever eaten and a darn good bowl of soup. Don't pass this up!

They offer a gluten free pasty. I’ve had the gluten free breakfast and normal one. When Ive gone the lady has offered to microwave them because they are frozen most of the time. It’s thoughtful to have an option of something I always loved after my celiac diagnosis. Kind workers every visit. Thanks for allowing me to keep enjoying a favorite meal without hassle.

Chicken pasty was absolutely delicious. Well-seasoned, flaky crust. The cookie, however, did not taste fresh at all. And maybe had a hint of air freshener taste to it? I'd 100% come back for some of the specialty pasties, but I'd skip the cookies.

This place has not only amazing pasties but also baked goods and ice cream. Very homemade and authentic feel to the place and the owner obviously takes pride in everything she makes. All served with kindness! Glad we found it before our vacation was over!

These are the best pasties in Munising!! They are so flavorful compared to other pasties. The dough and crust is amazing and the options are unbeatable!!!! We love that there are random new flavors each day. We ate these 2x/week for 3 weeks during our stay in town and also tried all the other pasty places but always came back to Miner’s. We took our pasties to Grand Island and reheated them over a fire, which was the best lunch break! One criticism we have is that the sausage needs to be cooked all the way through better or chopped into smaller chunks when cooking. I would recommend Miners Pasty to everyone who is visiting or passed through Munising!

Stopped in right before closing during my birthday weekend. So glad we did! Best pasty I’ve had probably ever. Customer service was great also. An au ju for the Philly ones might be an idea to try!
